BMD Issues Storm Warning for Dhaka and 16 Other Districts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather warning predicting thunderstorms and gusty winds across Dhaka and 16 other districts by noon today.

The forecast, valid from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, July 20, warns of temporary squally winds blowing from the west or north-west at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour.

The affected areas include Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.

Given the risk of severe weather, authorities have advised all inland river ports within these specified regions to hoist warning signal No. 1 as a safety precaution. Residents and riverine transport operators are urged to remain cautious during this period.
