The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised inland river ports in seven regions to hoist cautionary signal number 1, warning that squally winds of up to 60 km/h may sweep over these areas by 6:00 pm Sunday.
According to the BMD weather bulletin, temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or south-east—accompanied by rain or thundershowers—are expected over the Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar regions.
Meanwhile, the monsoon remains active over northern Bangladesh and fairly active across the rest of the country, with its influence projected to persist for the next five days.
Through Monday, most places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, alongside many areas in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Isolated pockets across the country may also see moderately heavy to heavy falls. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain virtually unchanged nationwide.
