Iran’s Security Council has authorized the passage of six Bangladeshi ships previously stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi announced the decision during a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday (April 1). He confirmed that both nations are now coordinating the safe return of the vessels.
The development follows a formal request from Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister to his Iranian counterpart seeking assistance for the stranded crew and cargo.
While Ambassador Jahanabadi noted that Iran had some reservations regarding Bangladesh’s official stance on recent Middle East conflicts, he emphasized the importance of regional stability. "Bangladesh is Iran's brother," the Ambassador stated. "I hope that a brother will stand by another brother in times of trouble."
