Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday told the Jatiya Sangsad that the government is preparing short- and long-term action plans to implement its election pledges.
He said all ministries and divisions are working on plans for the next 180 days, the upcoming fiscal year and the next five years.
The prime minister made the remarks while replying to a starred question from a lawmaker in parliament, with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
He said progress has already been made in implementing several key commitments outlined in the election manifesto.
To support low-income families, the government has launched a pilot “Family Card” programme. It currently covers 37,814 women-headed households across 15 wards in 13 districts.
The government is also planning to introduce a “Farmer Card” to provide broader support to farmers. The pilot programme will begin in 11 blocks under 11 upazilas across 10 districts, implemented through the Department of Agricultural Extension.
As part of its commitments, agricultural loans of up to Tk 10,000 for farmers in crop, livestock and fisheries sectors have been waived.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, financial allowances were distributed to 9,102 religious service providers. The beneficiaries include imams, muezzins, mosque staff, Hindu priests, sebaits and Buddhist clergy, with funds transferred directly to their bank accounts.
On healthcare, the prime minister said a pilot project is awaiting approval to issue 2.5 million e-health cards in Khulna district.
