Teachers and students across the country will enjoy a three-day holiday this week due to a combination of weekly breaks and a religious observance.
Educational institutions will remain closed on Sunday (April 5) for Easter Sunday, a major festival of the Christian community. As Friday (April 3) and Saturday (April 4) are regular weekly holidays, this creates a continuous three-day break.
Meanwhile, the government is considering reintroducing online classes in metropolitan areas, excluding universities, to address the ongoing impact of the global energy crisis. A blended learning system—combining in-person and online classes—is also under discussion.
The matter was discussed in detail at a meeting held at the Ministry of Education on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by heads of educational institutions in Dhaka, education board officials, and ministry representatives. It was chaired by Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon.
Blended learning combines classroom teaching with digital instruction. Under this system, students attend physical classes part of the week and participate in online lessons for the remaining days.
An initial proposal suggests holding in-person classes three days a week and online classes for another three days. Another option under discussion is scheduling classes based on odd and even days. Teachers would conduct online classes from school premises, while practical sessions would continue in person.
