The Phulbari Upazila Agriculture Department distributed free seeds and fertilizers to 900 marginal farmers on Wednesday (April 1) to boost Aush paddy and jute production.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Upazila Agriculture Officer’s office, was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Saif Abdullah. Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ahmed Hachan attended as the chief guest, alongside other departmental officials.
Under the incentive program, 850 farmers from seven unions and one municipality received 5 kg of Bri-98 Aush seeds and 20 kg of fertilizer each. Additionally, 50 jute farmers received 1 kg of Tosha-09 jute seeds and 10 kg of fertilizer.
Agriculture officials noted that the initiative aims to lower production costs and encourage farmers to expand their cultivation areas. They expect the move will significantly increase crop yields in the current season.
