A Bangladeshi national was killed by falling shrapnel after a drone was intercepted in the United Arab Emirates, the country's state news agency, WAM, confirmed Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Fujairah, a region near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. According to a government statement reported by Gulf News, the drone was shot down over the Al-Rifa area, with debris landing on a local farm and fatally striking the individual.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased. This incident adds to a rising toll of Bangladeshi expatriates caught in regional tensions; six Bangladeshi nationals have reportedly died across the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia since the onset of the current conflict.
