The Energy and Mineral Resources Division and the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) have successfully maintained the country’s fuel supply chain despite ongoing geopolitical instability in the Middle East. Under government-to-government (G2G) contracts and international tenders, the BPC continues to secure refined and crude oil imports to ensure national energy security.
As part of this ongoing effort, the Panama-flagged vessel ‘PVT Solana’ anchored at Dolphin Jetty-05 of Chattogram Port at 3:00 AM on Tuesday (March 31). The ship, arriving from Malaysia, carried 27,300 tonnes of refined diesel supplied by Petco Trading Labuan Company. BPC officials confirmed that unloading (pumping) is scheduled to begin Wednesday at noon.
Further shipments are expected soon. Two vessels from Singapore are slated to arrive in the first week of April the ‘Yuan Jing He’ with 30,000 metric tonnes of diesel, and the ‘Central Star’ carrying 25,000 metric tonnes of octane.
BPC officials reiterated that despite global market volatility, fuel imports remain uninterrupted to prevent any domestic shortages.
