Illegal Distillery Busted in Chattogram, 6 Arrested

Police arrested six individuals during a midnight raid on an illegal liquor factory operated out of a rented house in the Dakshin Mohra area of Chandgaon, Chattogram.

The arrestees are Ripon Chakma (26), Biplob Chakma (26), Tuni Chakma (39), Kaushal Bikash Chakma (28), Babudhan Chakma (27), and Rebika Chakma (26).

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Chandgaon Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahnewaz raided the ground floor of the building at approximately 10:30 PM on Tuesday (March 31). Officers seized 510 liters of liquor, 1,000 liters of fermented raw materials, and various distilling equipment.

According to SI Shahnewaz, the suspects sourced raw materials from hilly regions and processed them in the city for local distribution. A case has been filed in this connection.
