Kylian Mbappe has officially shut down rumors of a feud with his French national teammate Ousmane Dembele also proving that there is no bad blood between the two star forwards.
The drama started earlier this month when Mbappe spoke to France Football about his Ballon d'Or chances. While comparing their career paths, Mbappe noted "He has always been considered a talented player. I have always been seen as the chosen one."
A few days later Ousmane Dembele seemed to politely clap back in an interview. Without naming Mbappe directly the current PSG winger said he was never "the chosen one" but earned his success through hard work and keeping his head down.
Fans naturally expected some awkwardness when the duo met up for international duty. However Mbappe quickly put the fire out. Speaking to L’Equipe, the Real Madrid star confirmed they’ve already talked things over.
"There’s no tension at all. He’s a friend. I’m very calm about it" Mbappe stated. He brushed off the rumors as typical media hype also noting that the press always looks for something to debate during the Nations League break.
Moving past the drama Mbappe feels confident about his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or in London this October. Highlighting his individual stats, he said, "I have been the top scorer in all the major competitions. It’s a very open race this year and it is fun to watch, and I think it could be a good year for me."
