Prime Minister Orders Quick Action to Reduce Suffering after Bogura Train Accident

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed local authorities to take immediate steps to minimise damage and reduce public suffering following a train accident in Bogura.

The Prime Minister spoke with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura soon after the incident and inquired about the situation.

He instructed officials to speed up rescue operations, ensure proper medical treatment for the আহত passengers, and restore transport services quickly so that travellers can reach their destinations without delay.

The directives were confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman.

The accident occurred around 2:30 pm in the Alamdighi area, when nine coaches of the Nilphamari-bound Nil Sagar Express derailed while travelling from Dhaka. More than 100 passengers were reportedly injured.

Officials said the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating response efforts.
