Chattogram Petrol Pumps Fined Tk 40,000 for Irregularities

Two petrol pumps in Chattogram were fined a total of Tk 40,000 during a mobile court drive conducted by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Wednesday, March 18.

The ‘Badsha Mia and Sons’ petrol pump in Nasirabad, under Panchlaish Police Station, was found supplying 120 milliliters less diesel for every 5 liters. The company was fined Tk 20,000 under Section 29/46 of the Weights and Measures Act-2018. The mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Suman Mondal Apu.

Meanwhile, legal action was taken against ‘Haji Yunus & Co.’ petrol pump in Katalganj for not updating its verification certificate. They were fined Tk 20,000 under Section 48 of the Weights and Measures Act-2018, although their dispensing units were measured to be accurate. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Subrata Halder.

During the drive, the authorities also praised ‘Khan Brothers CNG Private Limited’ in the same area for having accurate measurements and all necessary certificates.
