


A man was seriously injured after being attacked with a hammer in Boalmari, Faridpur, reportedly over his court testimony. Police have arrested six people in connection with the incident.
The attack occurred around 8:30 am on Wednesday, March 18, at Tetulia village in Rupapat Union. The victim, Bidhan Sakari (50), is the husband of Shyamli Sakari, a female UP member of Ward 7.
Local and police sources said Bidhan Sakari had testified in favor of Gafur Molya in a land dispute case. The opposing party had repeatedly threatened him prior to the attack.
On Wednesday morning, while sitting at a tea shop at Tetulia intersection, he was surrounded by the attackers, who beat him with a hammer, breaking both legs. Locals rescued him and took him to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex, from where he was referred to Dhaka for further treatment.
The six arrested are Promatho Biswas (60), Gopal Mondal (45), Ratan Biswas (60), Anand Mondal (60), Babul Mondal (33), and Dhanya (29). Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Anwar Hossain confirmed the arrests and said legal action is underway.
