


A long-standing land dispute between two brothers turned fatal on Wednesday morning when the elder brother allegedly shot and killed the younger in Boalmari Upazila.
The incident occurred around 9:30 AM near the rail gate behind the Fire Service office in the Chatul area. According to witnesses, an argument broke out between Dr. Golam Kabir and his younger brother, Mintu, over the sale of trees on a contested plot of land. At one point, Dr. Kabir reportedly fired several rounds from his firearm, leaving Mintu critically injured.
Mintu was rushed to the Boalmari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.
Local residents apprehended Dr. Golam Kabir at the scene and handed him over to the police. Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Anwar Hossain confirmed the arrest, stating that the body is being sent to the Faridpur morgue for an autopsy.
Dr. Golam Kabir was notably a candidate for the Faridpur-1 constituency (Boalmari, Alfadanga, Madhukhali) in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
