


To strengthen local anti-tobacco efforts, the Kalia Upazila Task Force Committee convened on Wednesday morning at the Upazila Parishad Conference Room.
Organized by the upazila administration, the meeting focused on enforcing the Smoking and Tobacco Use (Control) Act. Key agenda items included raising public awareness and ensuring smoke-free environments in schools and public spaces.
Speakers highlighted tobacco use as a severe public health threat, stressing the need to actively educate the youth about its dangers. Moving forward, the committee decided to conduct regular mobile courts, launch localized awareness campaigns, and improve coordination among relevant government agencies to strictly enforce the law.
The session was attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sraboni Biswas, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mohammad Shoaib, alongside law enforcement representatives, educators, and other committee members.
