Markets across Faridpur city and its upazilas are witnessing a massive surge in shoppers as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches. Popular hubs like New Market and Haji Shariatullah Bazar are struggling to manage the overflow of customers seeking clothing, footwear, and cosmetics.
From morning until late at night, crowds are packing both high-end malls and roadside stalls. While the atmosphere is festive, many shoppers have noted a significant hike in prices this year, particularly for children's and women’s apparel.
"It’s crowded because it’s the final stretch," said Taslima Akhter, a shopper. "Despite the prices, I'm trying to find quality items within my budget."
Traders are reporting their highest sales volumes of the season. Hasmat Ullah Boni, a merchant at New Market, noted that the last ten days of Ramadan are always the busiest. To maintain order, the district and police administration have implemented strict surveillance, ensuring a secure environment for the thousands of residents finishing their holiday preparations.
