The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that its intelligence chief, Major General Seyed Majid Khademi, was killed in a US-Israeli strike early Monday.
According to a statement released by the IRGC and reported by the Fars news agency, the commander was killed in what Tehran described as a joint "terrorist attack" on April 6. Details regarding the specific location and nature of the strike remain limited.
Regional tensions have surged following a series of high-profile strikes beginning on February 28. Casualties from the ongoing conflict have reportedly exceeded 2,000. In response to the escalation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting military installations in Israel, Iraq, and Jordan. Additionally, Tehran has restricted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping lane.
