Students and guardians in Bhurungamari, Kurigram, formed a human chain on Monday afternoon protesting a move to reinstate teachers accused of leaking SSC examination question papers.

The hour-long programme was held on College More Road. Students, guardians, and local residents, including members of Nehal Uddin Pilot Girls’ High School, took part.

Protesters said six teachers and staff members, including headmaster Lutfar Rahman, were temporarily suspended over allegations of leaking the 2022 SSC exam question papers. Recent efforts to reinstate them have triggered strong anger among students and guardians.

Speakers at the programme warned that reinstating individuals accused of serious misconduct would harm the academic environment and put students’ futures at risk. They demanded proper investigation and exemplary punishment instead of reinstatement.

After the human chain, participants submitted a memorandum to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
