A 26-year-old man was hacked to death by miscreants in the Ratanpur area of Pirojpur Union on Sunday night. The deceased, identified as Liton, son of the late Shahidul Islam, hailed from Rangpur. He resided in a rented house in the Hamchadi area of Baidyerbazar Union and worked at a car showroom in the Signboard area.

According to local sources, Liton had a long-standing dispute with a local group. Following an altercation on Saturday, a group of miscreants intercepted Liton in Ratanpur at approximately 9:30 PM on Sunday and attacked him with sharp weapons.

Locals rushed to the spot upon hearing his screams, causing the attackers to flee. Liton was taken to the Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctors pronounced him dead.

Liton’s father-in-law, Abdur Rouf, alleged the murder was pre-planned, demanding immediate justice for the victim.

Mohibullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station, stated that initial investigations suggest the killing was fueled by a land dispute and prior enmity. The body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the suspects, and a case is being filed.
