Discussions are underway on revising the pay scale structure for government primary school teachers, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said on Monday (April 6).

He made the remarks after visiting Haji Yusuf Ali Government Primary School and Sher-e-Bangla Government Primary School in the capital.

The State Minister said no decision has been taken on closing schools due to measles concerns or the ongoing fuel situation. However, the ministry is not considering a shift to online classes at this stage.

He added that the Ministry of Health has started measles awareness activities in primary schools, and discussions on vaccination are in their final stages.

“We are planning several new initiatives in the education sector in June-July. As part of this, inspections of primary schools are ongoing,” he said.

Addressing concerns about administrative discipline, he noted that judging officials solely based on late office attendance is not appropriate. He stressed that the ministry aims to ensure accountability and serve the public effectively.

During the visit, the State Minister spoke with school managing committee members, teachers, guardians and students. He also reviewed student health issues, including mid-day meal programmes.
