Newly appointed Chattogram District Council Administrator Mahbuber Rahman Shamim announced that the Zilla Parishad will take immediate initiatives to rehabilitate flood-affected residents across various upazilas including Banshkhali, Satkania and Chandanaish.

Speaking as chair during a coordination meeting at the Zilla Parishad conference room on Wednesday (July 22), Shamim stated that proposals submitted by Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) for local development and post-flood recovery will be given priority. He added that rehabilitation needs will also be raised at the highest government levels to secure necessary support.

Highlighting the importance of administrative coordination, Shamim described UNOs as vital field-level officials key to implementing local development, managing disaster responses and resolving public grievances. He advised UNOs to work closely with local Members of Parliament to streamline services and maximize public benefit.

Emphasizing a "zero-tolerance" policy on corruption, the administrator urged all officials to carry out their duties with transparency, honesty and accountability. He further stressed punctuality in official proceedings and assured field officers of full support from the district council.

Key officials in attendance included Chattogram Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Chowdhury Roshan Islam, Executive Officer Khondkar Md. Ikhtiyar Uddin Arfat, Assistant Engineer (Acting) SM Khalekuzzaman along with UNOs and representatives from various government and social service departments.
