Young Man Found Dead at Expatriate's Wife's House in Pabna

Police recovered the body of a 23-year-old mason named Alif from a house in Raghunathpur, Ataikula union, Santhia upazila, Pabna on Tuesday morning and sparking shock across the area.

Alif, son of the late Raiz Sheikh was reportedly in a relationship with the wife of Badsha a local man who has been working in Libya for about two years. Locals said Alif visited the woman's house on Monday night. Around 9 am Tuesday the family members found his body hanging and alerted police who recovered it from the scene.

Residents suspect the woman's family may have killed Alif after discovering the affair and staged it as a suicide. However, police said preliminary findings suggest Alif proposed marriage to the woman that night, and after she refused that he is believed to have taken his own life.

Ataikula Police Station OC Mojibur Rahman confirmed the incident stemmed from an extramarital relationship. The body has been sent to Pabna Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police say the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the report is received and investigation is ongoing.
