The Bangladesh government is reshaping the academic calendar to align with international standards and save students' valuable time. Starting next academic year, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will be held in January, while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams will take place in June.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the new schedule during a parliamentary session on Tuesday. He explained that these reforms will create better consistency between the start of the academic year and the timing of major public exams, ultimately minimizing the loss of academic hours for students.

The minister also noted that the government plans further educational reforms in phases, with a long-term goal of moving public exams even earlier in the academic year.
