The Bangladesh Army and state agencies have intensified humanitarian operations across the flood-ravaged regions of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT). Following unprecedented rainfall—with Cox's Bazar recording over 800mm in a week—five upazilas have been severely inundated, leaving thousands in urgent need of assistance.
Military personnel are actively distributing relief materials and providing emergency medical care to victims in the Hathazari, Fatikchhari, and Rangamati upazilas. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) affirmed that the army will sustain these critical operations to ensure emergency assistance reaches all affected residents.
In parallel, State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has been coordinating field-level rescue efforts in Cox's Bazar and Chattogram. Amit emphasized that the immediate priority is saving lives and delivering relief. Once the adverse weather clears, the government's focus will shift heavily to rehabilitation, which includes compensating affected farmers, fishers, and livestock owners for their severe losses.
Bolstering the state's response, four subsidiaries of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) have distributed 2,000 comprehensive relief packages. These packages, which include rice, lentils, oral saline, and other survival necessities, were formally handed over to local authorities to support stranded families.
