In a move to reduce the financial burden on pilgrims, US-Bangla Airlines has proposed operating 2027 Hajj flights at a significantly reduced airfare of Tk98,000 per person. Submitted to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, this offer presents a stark contrast to the Tk154,830 charged during the 2026 season.
Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad welcomed the offer, noting that it strengthens the government’s negotiating power to lower overall Hajj costs. "Competition in Hajj airfares is a positive development," Azad stated, reaffirming the government's commitment to making the pilgrimage more affordable.
Currently, Hajj flights from Bangladesh are operated exclusively by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudi Arabia's national carrier Saudia, and flynas. US-Bangla’s entry into this market could provide a much-needed, cost-effective alternative, with the airline ensuring it is fully prepared to comply with all operational requirements at the Tk98,000 net fare.
The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) has expressed support for lower airfares and plans to review the proposal. Meanwhile, government officials and Hajj-related agencies are actively finalizing the overall 2027 package, with Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad expected to announce the final details soon.
