Police have arrested six alleged members of an organised motorcycle theft ring in Jorarganj, Chattogram, and recovered three stolen motorcycles and six mobile phones from them.
Additional Superintendent of Police Russell confirmed the arrests on Monday (September 14).
The arrested suspects are Mohammad Jamsed Hossain alias Shuvo, 23; Mohammad Shariful Islam alias Jony, 26; Saiful Islam alias Chand Mia, 20; Asif Mahmud alias Abhi, 24; Ismail Hossain, 18; and Mohammad Mashrafi, 20.
According to Additional SP Russell, police arrested the six during a raid on Sunday (September 13) at a residential house in the Banglabazar area of Dhum Union.
Based on information obtained from the suspects, police later conducted a raid at a garage called Korerhat Bike Lab in Korerhat Union. Two more stolen motorcycles, including Hero and Platina models, were recovered from the garage.
Russell said Mashrafi has three previous theft cases against him.
“Police operations are continuing to bring the remaining members of the gang under the law,” he said.
