


The election of the Lakshmipur Municipal Shop Tenant Business Welfare Association was held on Saturday, with Shah Alam elected president and Mohammad Azizul Islam elected general secretary.
Voting took place from 9am to 1pm at the conference room of Lakshmipur Press Club. Of the association's 89 registered voters, 70 cast their ballots.
After voting concluded, Chief Election Commissioner AHM Mostakur Rahman announced the names of the successful candidates.
Shah Alam won the presidency with 38 votes. Other elected office-bearers are Jobi Ullah as vice-president with 40 votes, Mohammad Azizul Islam as general secretary with 40 votes, Lokman Qari as joint general secretary with 43 votes, Afiful Islam Tushar as organising secretary with 44 votes, and Abdullah Mahmud as treasurer with 39 votes.
A notable number of businesspeople were present at the polling centre from the morning. The voting was completed peacefully.
Those concerned expressed hope that the newly elected committee will work to address various problems faced by shop tenant businesses in the municipal area, protect their rights and promote their welfare.
