The Louhjang Upazila administration conducted a mobile court drive on Wednesday morning (July 22) targeting illegal sand-carrying bulkheads navigating the Dohuri (Taltola) canal in the Shamurbari area of Munshiganj.

Led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Erfanur Rahman with assistance from the River Police the drive fined two bulkheads a total of Tk 25,000 for regulatory violations. Operators were formally warned against continuing unauthorized transport along the waterway.

Magistrate Erfanur Rahman emphasized that regular monitoring will persist to protect canal navigability, prevent environmental degradation and uphold public interest. Local residents welcomed the administrative action and requested continued enforcement to curb illegal sand transport across the upazila.
