Two elderly sisters, Acia and Khadija, had been living an inhumane life for a long time in a remote village in Azparagaon, Mirsarai, Chattogram district. The two helpless sisters, who were husbandless and childless, had no good place to lay their heads. Water would fall inside the house during the monsoon and the cold wind was very cold in the winter. They were living an inhumane life.
Recently, the issue came to the attention of Jamaat-e-Islami of Mayani Union No. 13 of Mirsarai Upazila. Considering it seriously, the local Jamaat-e-Islami took the initiative to build a house for the two helpless women as per the party decision of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The local Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists built them a two-room tin house with their own funds in about a month of effort. Advocate Saifur Rahman, the nominated candidate of Mirsarai Jamaat-e-Islami, handed over the keys of the newly built house to the two helpless women.
While handing over the keys, Advocate Saifur Rahman said, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam always tries to stand by the poor and needy. However, we do not promote these humanitarian works. Along with good deeds, it is also important to promote good deeds, so that others can also be encouraged and come forward for humanitarian service.
After getting a new house, Acia said, earlier we had a broken house, the tin roof had numerous holes. When it rained, the house would be washed away by water. On winter nights, the north wind would enter the house and it would be impossible to keep warm. The people of Jamaat have built a house for us. I am very happy about this.
She also said, we have another sister, her house is also in a very bad condition. If a house could be built for her too, then she could also live well. In this regard, the leaders of the local Mayani Union Jamaat said, we have built the house for these two sisters from our own pocket money. If we can afford it in the future, we will try to build a house for the other sister as well. We will discuss the matter with the senior leaders of the organization.
