


A large quantity of both domestic and foreign firearms and ammunition has been seized during a joint special operation conducted by the District Police, RAB-7, Naval Police, and 9 APBN in various locations of Raozan Police Station in Chattogram. Five individuals were apprehended during this operation.
District Police Superintendent Md. Saiful Islam Santu shared this information at a press conference held at the Chattogram Police Superintendent's office, Gate No. 2, Chattogram City on Thursday (November 20).
He mentioned that this collaborative operation took place from Wednesday (November 19) night to Thursday morning as part of efforts to uphold law and order in Chattogram district and to take a firm stance against illegal arms holders, terrorists, and wanted suspects. Searches were carried out in Noapara, Bagowan, East and West Gujra, Sultanpur, Kadalpur, and the municipality areas under Raozan Police Station. Additionally, check posts were established at 17 locations where vehicles and individuals were inspected.
During the operation, authorities seized 8 LGs, 6 rounds of cartridges, 14 knives, 3 ramdas, 2 chapatis, 2 swords, 1 kirich, and 1 electric cutter. At the check post, 28 motorcycles and 1 truck were confiscated, leading to 37 cases being filed under the Motor Vehicles Act. Furthermore, 5 additional individuals were arrested for various offenses. RAB-7 also recovered 3 LGs, 2 swords, and 1 kirich during their operation.
He also noted that 6 individuals have already been arrested in the controversial murder case of businessman Hakim from Raujan, with 2 of them providing confessional statements in court under Section 164. The weapons seized in this case include 4 foreign pistols, 1 revolver, 1 Chinese rifle, 1 shotgun, 2 LGs, 85 rounds of ammunition, 7 magazines, 2 ramdas, 5 knives, and a motorcycle. The Chattogram District Police Superintendent reported that since January of this year, 577 firearms, 462 bullets, and 206 rounds of cartridges have been recovered through operations conducted by the Chattogram District Police and Intelligence Branch. A total of 96 cases have been filed under the Arms Act, resulting in the arrest of 140 individuals.
