Current and former students of the school, along with local residents, participated in a broom and shoe procession in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, advocating for severe penalties for those implicated in the clandestine sale of supplies from Panchamighat High School during the night.
The event took place in front of Panchamighat School in Sadipur Union on Sunday afternoon, November 16. Participants urged the administration to take decisive action against the accused members of the school management committee, including president Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, former president Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan Masum, and headmaster Md. Jahangir Alam, who is facing numerous allegations.
During the human chain demonstration, Sadipur Union BNP Vice President Tajul Islam stated, "Masum and Moniruzzaman are making unilateral decisions, treating this union as if it were their personal property. Under their leadership, school supplies were sold illegally at night. Subsequently, locals intercepted a vehicle loaded with these goods. However, now, false claims are being made against reputable individuals. We demand the harshest punishment for those involved in this matter."
Sadipur Union Parishad member Habibur Rahman Masud Molla remarked, "A despicable act such as the theft and sale of goods from an educational institution has damaged the reputation of our union. Corruption and misconduct will not be accepted in a revered place like a school. All individuals associated with this incident must face legal consequences." He also stated, "The residents of this area have demonstrated their unity against injustice by seizing the goods at night. We urge the administration to conduct a thorough investigation and impose exemplary punishment on those responsible."
Local residents emphasized the need for strict oversight and the inclusion of honest individuals in the management committee to avert future incidents similar to the sale of educational institution goods.
Following the formation of a human chain, locals displayed brooms and shoes as a symbolic protest against corruption.
In response, the accused former president Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan Masum claimed that a malicious group has intentionally orchestrated the theft of the sold goods to tarnish our reputation. We convened a meeting against them yesterday.
The current committee president, Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, defended the actions by stating that the goods were sold as part of the school committee's activities. However, they did not obtain permission from the Secondary Education Office. The goods were transported at night in a vehicle after the sale, and no theft took place.
It is important to highlight that last Saturday (September 9), despite the school being closed, the goods belonging to Panchamighat School were sold illegally at night under the direction of the president and headmaster. When the goods were loaded onto a local junkyard's pick-up van, residents intervened, seizing the items and turning them over to the police.
