BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has formally unveiled the party’s election manifesto ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He presented the manifesto at a programme held at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka on Friday (February 6), just five days before polling day. The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by the convener of the BNP’s Ulama group, followed by the national anthem, during which attendees stood in respect.
The programme was presided over by BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan.
Under the slogan “Bangladesh First,” the BNP manifesto outlines the party’s vision for governing the country. The manifesto is divided into five chapters.
The first chapter focuses on reforming the state system. The second addresses non-discriminatory socio-economic development and strengthening sustainable state capacity. The third chapter highlights plans to rebuild and stabilise the economy, while the fourth emphasises balanced, region-based development. The final chapter covers issues related to religion, society, sports, culture and national unity.
The manifesto reflects the political philosophies of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Vision-2030, Tarique Rahman’s 31-point state reform proposal, and the July National Charter.
At the start of the programme, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Tarique Rahman would present the party’s roadmap for the future of the country.
Later, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi invited Tarique Rahman to the stage. In his opening remarks, Tarique Rahman greeted party leaders, activists and guests attending the programme.
