The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun a training workshop for its Members of Parliament (MPs) ahead of the first sitting of the 11th National Parliament, aiming to prepare lawmakers for parliamentary responsibilities and legislative activities.
The workshop was inaugurated on Friday (6 March 2026) at 10:30am by BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the chairman’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka. The initiative is part of the party’s efforts to strengthen parliamentary performance and ensure its MPs are well-prepared for debates, policymaking, and legislative procedures.
During the opening session, Tarique Rahman delivered a welcome address highlighting the importance of effective parliamentary participation and disciplined political engagement. He stressed the need for BNP lawmakers to uphold democratic values, represent public interests, and contribute constructively to national policymaking during the upcoming parliamentary session.
Several senior party leaders attended the inaugural programme, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Members of the party’s standing committee also present included Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and AZM Zahid Hossain. They participated in the opening session and discussed various organisational and parliamentary issues.
The workshop is designed to familiarise BNP MPs with parliamentary rules, legislative procedures, policy discussions, and strategies for effective participation in the national legislature. Party insiders say the sessions will include briefings on parliamentary conduct, committee work, debate strategies, and coordination among lawmakers.
BNP leadership believes such training will help strengthen the party’s parliamentary presence and ensure its representatives can address national issues more effectively in the House.
Also present at the event was Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, who attended the workshop alongside senior leaders and party lawmakers.
The training programme comes just days before the first sitting of the 11th National Parliament, scheduled to begin on 12 March at 11am at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka. The upcoming session is expected to address key legislative and policy matters, making preparation crucial for newly elected MPs.
Political analysts note that such preparatory workshops reflect the party’s efforts to organise its parliamentary strategy and strengthen coordination among lawmakers before the new parliamentary term formally begins.
