


At least two more children have died of measles while undergoing treatment at Kushtia Medical College Hospital and Kushtia General Hospital within 18 hours, raising the death toll in the district to four.
The latest victims include eight-month-old Ibrahim, son of Chanchal Hossain from Daulatpur upazila, who died on Friday (April 3) at Kushtia General Hospital after being diagnosed with measles and pneumonia. Another infant, five-month-20-day-old Aiza, daughter of Mominur Rahman from the Renwick area in Kushtia town, died the same day at Kushtia Medical College Hospital after four days of treatment.
Hospital officials confirmed that both children were suffering from measles complications, including pneumonia. Earlier on the same day, another eight-month-old child, Afran, also died at Kushtia Medical College Hospital.
According to local health authorities, measles infections are rising rapidly in the district. In the last 24 hours alone, 20 new patients have been admitted with symptoms, bringing the total reported cases to 32. Currently, around 230 children are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, with five to six in critical condition.
Health officials have expressed concern over the outbreak, urging increased vigilance and timely treatment to prevent further fatalities.
