Following the tragic deaths of six newborns, Ad-din Hospital has formally applied for a new government inspection, claiming to have implemented all recommended safety upgrades.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain confirmed on Monday that the hospital submitted video evidence showcasing improvements to its affected facilities, particularly the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
"We will inspect the facility," the minister stated. "If we find the improvements satisfactory and feasible, the government may take an appropriate decision". A government team is expected to visit the hospital soon to verify the claims, though a specific date has not yet been set.
Addressing criticism regarding the timeline of the government's response, Husain firmly rejected claims of a delay, emphasising that authorities took immediate action against the hospital directly following the infant deaths.
Regarding the victims, the minister noted that while the hospital has provided some financial assistance to the grieving families, a portion of the promised compensation remains pending.
Despite the facility upgrades and ongoing compensation efforts, the minister was clear that the criminal case filed over the six deaths will proceed independently through the judicial system. "The outcome of the case will be determined by the law and the court," Husain affirmed.
