Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain clarified that while the Moghbazar branch of Ad-Din Hospital has had its operating license revoked, the hospital's other branches face no operational restrictions.
The minister made the statement on Tuesday morning during the launch of the Measles Treatment Protocol Clinical Management Guidelines at Holy Family Red Crescent Hospital.
Addressing the recent tragedy at the Moghbazar facility, Sakhawat Hossain stated that six children died due to a lack of oxygen in an enclosed room. He attributed the deaths to severe negligence by the facility's doctors, nurses, and administration, emphasizing that the hospital authorities must take full responsibility.
"As a penalty for this crime, the hospital's registration has been canceled," he said, warning that institutions cannot evade accountability or defy the government after committing such offenses.
During the event, the Health Minister expressed frustration over the broader lack of improvement in patient care across the healthcare sector. However, he commended medical professionals for their successful efforts in building a strong defense against measles, concluding his remarks by urging all doctors to serve the public with greater dedication.
