BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to register as a voter on December 27, according to party Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.
The announcement followed a meeting between a three-member BNP delegation and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission headquarters today.
The discussions primarily focused on the legal and procedural requirements for Tarique Rahman’s voter registration and his eligibility to contest the 13th national parliamentary election. The move comes as the BNP leader prepares to return to Bangladesh on December 25 after an 18-year exile.
Since the election schedule has already been announced, the delegation sought specific EC approval to ensure his candidacy and registration adhere to current election rules.
