Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirms 20 people assigned gunmen.

Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced today that the government has provided armed guards (gunmen) to 20 high-profile individuals, including the editors of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, due to heightened security concerns.

The move follows recent attacks and arson at the offices of these media outlets and Chhayanaut, sparked by the death of Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

The Home Adviser confirmed that the DMP has arrested 17 individuals in connection with the newspaper office attacks. He also addressed the ongoing investigation into Hadi’s murder, stating that the "mastermind," Faisal Karim Masud, will be brought to justice soon, though his current whereabouts remain unconfirmed.

Despite calls for his resignation from groups like DUCSU and Inqilab Mancha, the Adviser dismissed rumors of his departure and emphasized that intelligence agencies (DGFI, NSI, and SB) are actively protecting those on a potential "hit list."
