PM to Inaugurate July Memorial Museum at Ganobhaban on August 5

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will officially inaugurate the July Memorial Museum at the former Ganobhaban on August 5, 2026. The government has also declared this date as "Fall of Autocracy Day" to commemorate the student-led mass uprising that resulted in the fall of the previous authoritarian government on August 5, 2024.

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain confirmed that the museum is fully prepared for its formal opening. The project transforms Ganobhaban once the center of the previous regime's power into a dedicated memorial space. It will preserve essential artifacts from the July 2024 movement including documents banners placards bloodstained clothing and the personal belongings of those killed and injured.

In addition to the inauguration a special commemorative program for the families of the uprising's martyrs and injured victims will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center, where Prime Minister Rahman will attend as the chief guest.

Initially planned by the previous interim government following the uprising, the museum's launch faced several postponements. However all preparations are now complete and the museum stands ready to preserve the historical legacy of the July movement for the public.
