Luka Modric Signs One-Year Contract Extension with AC Milan

Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract extension with AC Milan will keeping him at San Siro until June 2027.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner will turns 41 in September has joined the Rossoneri on a free transfer from Real Madrid in 2025. He made 37 appearances last season with scoring twice.

"I am thrilled to stay at AC Milan, where you made me feel welcomed and loved from the very first day" Modric said in a club statement. Addressing the team's fifth-place Serie A finish last season that he expressed immense motivation to bounce back.

AC Milan praised the veteran with calling him "one of the finest and most iconic players in world football."

Modric recently returned from his fifth World Cup and he surpassed 200 international caps. Croatia's tournament ended controversially in the round of 32 following a 2-1 loss to Portugal.

Looking ahead, Milan will compete in the Europa League under new head coach Ruben Amorim replaces Massimiliano Allegri. To bolster the squad for the upcoming campaign the Italian club has heavily invested in the transfer market and acquiring Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos from PSG for over €70 million and Spanish defender Mario Gila from Lazio for €30 million.
