AC Milan earned local bragging rights and three vital points with a 3-1 victory over rivals Inter Milan in Serie A on Saturday while AS Roma swept past Udinese with an explosive 5-2 win.
Milan took an early command of the derby when Christian Pulisic headed home the opener in the fourth minute followed quickly by Adrien Rabiot’s strike six minutes later. Inter responded in the 22nd minute through Alessandro Bastoni, shifting momentum back toward the home side. However, Diego Moreira restored Milan’s two-goal cushion just before halftime with a fine free-kick, securing a fourth consecutive derby win for his side.
The victory lifts AC Milan into fourth place on 21 points, four points behind joint-leaders Inter and Lazio (25 points). Lazio can move three points clear at the top when they play Cagliari on Sunday.
Meanwhile AS Roma produced a dominant first-half display at Udinese, storming into a 4-0 lead within 37 minutes through goals from Bryan Cristante, Rodrigo Mora, Donyell Malen and Evan Ndicka. Udinese mounted a brief second-half revival with goals from Nicolo Zaniolo and Matteo Palma but Daniele Ghilardi sealed Roma's resounding 5-2 victory late on. The win keeps third-placed Roma firmly in the title hunt with 24 points.
Elsewhere, Bologna secured a 2-1 comeback win over Monza to move up to ninth place. Monza’s Gustavo Varela scored an early penalty but Tommaso Pobega and Federico Bernardeschi replied for Bologna while Monza's Patrick Cutrone missed a late equalizer from the spot.
