All nine candidates from three colleges under the Chattogram Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board failed the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations according to official results published on Saturday.
The institutions with zero pass rates and candidate breakdowns are:
Srijani Trust School and College: 5 candidates (0 passed)
Meron Sun College: 2 candidates (0 passed)
Beam Laboratory School and College (Cox's Bazar): 2 candidates (0 passed)
Across the Chattogram Board, a total of 96,335 candidates from 280 colleges appeared in exams held across 114 centers. The overall board pass rate stood at 52.07 percent with marking a slight decline of 0.50 percentage points compared to last year.
The drop in performance also impacted top scores with 2,929 students securing GPA-5—a sharp decrease of 3,168 top achievers compared to the previous year's figures.
District-wise results revealed significant performance disparities:
Chattogram City: 66.20 percent (highest pass rate)
Bandarban: 41.42 percent
Rangamati: 33.24 percent
Khagrachhari: 29.85 percent (lowest pass rate)
The complete failure at these three colleges alongside lower pass rates across the Hill Tracts districts, underscores an urgent need to evaluate teaching resources, academic support and institutional accountability across the region.
