The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has fixed the medical examination fee at Tk.8,000 for Bangladeshi workers heading to Malaysia also warning recruiting agencies and medical centers against collecting extra charges.

The ministry issued a statement confirming that medical examinations for Malaysia-bound workers officially began on Saturday following the resumption of the recruitment process.

Workers can undergo tests at any government-approved medical center; no center can operate exclusively under a specific recruiting agency. The "Migram slip" carries no charge. If a worker selects a different agency for testing the issuing agency must transfer the report immediately without objection. Workers are urged to avoid brokers and unauthorized intermediaries.

The government warned that regular inspections will be conducted, and strict legal action will be taken against medical centers or agencies involved in irregularities, delays or harassment. Workers facing overcharging can report directly to the ministry via (secretary@probashi.gov.bd).

The development follows an announcement on October 15 that Malaysia agreed in principle to recruit 10,000 Bangladeshi workers at zero cost to the migrants. A total of 338 Bangladeshi recruiting agencies have been cleared to participate in the hiring process.
