Some journeys remain etched in one’s heart long after returning home. Our family trip to Nepal, from October 21 to 26, 2026, was one such memorable experience. In just six days, we enjoyed the vibrancy of Kathmandu, the serene beauty of Pokhara, the magnificent sunrise over the Himalayas, and Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. We returned home with countless photographs, joyful memories, and a renewed love and fascination for nature.
A Lively Welcome in Kathmandu: On the evening of October 21, we traveled to Nepal via Himalayan Airlines and arrived in Kathmandu. We checked into Hotel Kailash Kutir in Thamel and immediately set out to explore the surrounding area. The bustling streets of Thamel, filled with a variety of shops and restaurants, offered us a vivid introduction to the city. After a long flight, exploring the neighborhood was a delightful experience a perfect, lively beginning to our family trip in a new country.
A Scenic Journey to Pokhara: On the morning of October 22, we departed for Pokhara by bus. Throughout the nine-hour journey, the ever-changing landscapes kept us captivated. Traveling through mountains, rivers, and lush greenery helped us forget the fatigue of the long trip. We stopped for lunch by a river along the way. We arrived in Pokhara around 4:00 PM and checked into Hotel Alpine. In the evening, we took a stroll along the shores of Phewa Lake. The calm waters, the picturesque surroundings, and the lakeside restaurants left us enchanted. We concluded the day by enjoying dinner there.
A Sunrise I Will Never Forget: On October 23, we woke up at 4:45 AM and set off for Sarangkot to witness the sunrise. Before the first light of dawn, we reached the mountaintop by cable car. Although the chilly morning air was a bit uncomfortable, the extraordinary scenery made us forget all our fatigue. As light gradually spread across the eastern sky, the magnificent form of the mountains began to reveal itself. Standing before such a sight, we could truly perceive the vastness and beauty of the Almighty’s creation SubhanAllah. Along with taking photographs, our entire family savored these exquisite moments together. Witnessing the sunrise from the mountains was one of the most captivating experiences of our trip to Nepal. After watching the sunrise, we returned to Hotel Alpine in Pokhara for breakfast. We then set out to explore various landmarks in Pokhara; our itinerary included Mahadev Hill, Devi’s Falls, and several other popular tourist attractions. The day was spent enjoying the beauty of nature and discovering new places. By the time we returned to the hotel in the evening, we were exhausted, yet filled with joy.
A Peaceful Night in the Mountains of Sarangkot: On October 24, we set off once again, this time heading toward the Sarangkot area, where we stayed at the Hotel Country Villa and Resorts. The natural beauty of the location left us spellbound; the atmosphere was reminiscent of Darjeeling in India, while the clouds drifting along the mountainsides brought to mind the scenery of Sajek Valley in Bangladesh. The surrounding mountain vistas, the movement of the clouds, and the serene environment instilled a profound sense of peace within us. Spending time with family in such a setting far removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life was a truly delightful experience. In the evening, we enjoyed a buffet dinner alongside tourists from various nations. Sharing the same space with people from different countries and cultures served as a reminder of how easily travel can bring people together.
Returning to Kathmandu and Exploring Heritage: On October 25, we departed for Kathmandu. On the way, we visited the Pashupatinath Temple. The atmosphere of this site steeped in historical and religious significance offered us a fresh perspective on the cultural diversity of Nepal. Later, we returned to Thamel and did some shopping. In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at a Chinese-run Halal restaurant. The day concluded on a pleasant note, with some shopping followed by a shared meal. The next morning, October 26, before departing from Nepal, we visited Kathmandu Durbar Square. The historical structures and museums there offered a glimpse into Nepal’s rich cultural heritage; these ancient architectural marvels and historical artifacts added a unique dimension to our journey. After the visit, we returned to the hotel, had breakfast, and set off for the airport. Thus, our six-day trip to Nepal came to an end.
Lessons we brought back: Beyond the natural beauty and tourist attractions, what impressed us most about Nepal was its cleanliness. In the places we visited, we saw very little litter on the roads or along the streets. We did not come across any posters or banners anywhere. Traffic was relatively light, and people generally followed traffic rules. The local people were also friendly and welcoming toward tourists. It can teach us to be responsible toward our surrounding environment. Small habits and collective efforts can, over time, bring about significant change. Our six-day vacation was much more than just a temporary break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With breathtaking mountain vistas, tranquil moments by the lakeside, encounters with history, and the joy of spending quality time with family, the trip became truly memorable. Returning to Bangladesh from Nepal, we brought back countless beautiful memories and a simple yet profound realization: the beauty of a place is not limited to its natural scenery; rather, its true beauty also lies in how much its people care for their shared home. Although Nepal is a neighboring country to Bangladesh, our visit made us realize that we have much to learn from them regarding how public spaces can be meticulously maintained and kept clean. Creating clean streets and an orderly environment is not solely the responsibility of government authorities; it is deeply linked to the daily habits, awareness, and sense of responsibility of ordinary citizens. If we wish to build a clean Bangladesh, the change must begin with ourselves. Families and educational institutions should teach children from a young age the importance of keeping public spaces clean, following rules, and taking personal responsibility.
