


Three members of a Bangladeshi family, including a five-year-old child, were stabbed to death in their apartment in Rome, Italy, on Friday night (June 26). A fourth family member was critically injured. The victims hailed from Companiganj upazila in Noakhali.
The deceased have been identified as Kamal Uddin Babul (40), his wife Arju Begum (38), and their daughter Arwa Islam Arisha (5). Their 20-year-old son, Amir Hossain Ayan, survived the attack with injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital.
The attack took place in an apartment on Via Montilio in the Casalotti area. According to the victims' nephew, Afnan Hossain Naim, unidentified assailants entered the family's flat around 8:00 pm local time and attacked them with sharp weapons.
Amir, who was outside during the initial intrusion, returned to the apartment and was stabbed by the assailants as they attempted to flee. Hearing his screams, neighbors rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to escape.
Locals quickly transported the four victims to the hospital, where doctors declared Babul, Arju, and Arwa dead on arrival.
The murders have cast a deep shadow of mourning over the victims' home village in Noakhali. Italian law enforcement has launched an investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killings.
