West Indies spinners Roston Chase and Jomel Warrican devastated Bangladesh's top order also leaving the hosts in deep trouble at 79 for 6 on Day 3 of the Mirpur Test. Play ended an hour early due to bad light and drizzle at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Despite taking a slender 27-run first-innings lead, Bangladesh held an overall lead of just 106 runs when stumps were drawn. Nayeem Hasan and Jaker Ali who entered as a concussion substitute for Mominul Haque remained unbeaten at the crease.
Earlier, Bangladesh bowled out West Indies for 245 in their first innings, thanks to off-spinner Nayeem Hasan's four-wicket haul. Shivnarine Chanderpaul's son Tagenarine (56) and skipper Chase (43*) had helped the visitors erase most of Bangladesh's first-innings total of 272.
Bangladesh's second innings started disastrously when pacer Shamar Joseph removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim for a duck in the second over. First-innings centurion Shadman Islam (13) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (10) added 27 runs before Chase completely changed the game.
Chase struck three times in his first ten deliveries. He bowled Shadman dismissed Towhid Hridoy for a two-ball duck after a wild charge down the pitch and trapped Shanto leg-before.
Warrican continued the destruction after tea dismissing Litton Das (4) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (9) to leave the Tigers floundering at 60 for 6 before lower-order resilience briefly halted the slide.
