The head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), Adm. Brad Cooper briefed President Donald Trump on potential military options for Iran during a White House meeting on Thursday, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The briefing comes as the US administration considers resuming major combat operations against Iran following earlier joint US-Israeli airstrikes this year.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine and key Cabinet members attended the meeting. The high-level session followed preliminary discussions held Wednesday between military leadership and Vice President JD Vance.
In recent weeks US military has reinforced air defenses, munitions and supply stockpiles across the Middle East. Command authorities have also repositioned troops away from exposed bases vulnerable to potential Iranian retaliatory strikes.
Spokespersons for both the Pentagon and CENTCOM declined to comment on the White House deliberations.
