A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his entourage back to Dhaka was delayed at Tokyo’s Narita Airport on Thursday following a technical fault.
The flight was scheduled to depart for Bangladesh at 6:00 PM local time (3:00 PM BST). According to a passenger onboard, the aircraft began taxiing for takeoff at 6:17 PM before Captain Imamul announced a technical issue requiring engineering attention.
After holding on the tarmac, the captain informed passengers that the aircraft would return to the bay so engineers could resolve the problem. By 8:00 PM Japan time, crew members instructed passengers to disembark while repairs continued.
The Prime Minister was safely escorted to the airport lounge first, followed by his delegation and other passengers. Biman flight operations officials confirmed that engineering crews are addressing the glitch to ensure the flight can safely resume its journey to Dhaka.
