A Russian jet-powered drone struck a crowded platform at the main railway station in Dnipro, Ukraine and killing at least 13 people and injuring five others on Thursday.
The missile-like drone hit as passengers were boarding a commuter train bound for Zaporizhzhia, leaving burned train cars and shattered glass across the terminal. Ukraine's air force intercepted three other incoming drones during the daytime assault but one breached defenses.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the "horrific" attack with reiterating calls for international allies to maintain economic pressure on Moscow. The incident coincides with reported strikes in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk that killed at least five additional civilians including two teenagers.
The strikes occurred despite a localized three-day humanitarian ceasefire holding in occupied Oleshky where a Ukrainian delegation travelled via Belarus and Russia to facilitate aid and potential evacuations.
