In a concerning turn of events, not a single student passed the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations from five colleges across Laxmipur district. Out of 16 candidates who sat for the exams from these institutions and all failed, sparking widespread concern among parents and local academic circles.
The affected institutions and candidate dropouts include:
Fazu Miar Hat School and College: 7 candidates (0 passed)
Bir Muktijoddha Momtaz Uddin Alokito College: 3 candidates (0 passed)
Laxmipur Police Lines School and College: 3 candidates (0 passed)
Torabganj School and College: 2 candidates (0 passed)
Cambridge City College: 1 candidate (0 passed)
This total failure at the five institutions stands in sharp contrast to the overall performance across Laxmipur district. This year 8,777 candidates appeared for the HSC examinations district-wide with 3,624 successfully passing. This reflects an overall district pass rate of 41.29 percent with 81 students securing the top grade of GPA-5.
The stark disparity between the broader district performance and the complete failure at these five colleges highlights an urgent need for local education authorities to review teaching quality, institutional oversight and academic support at these institutions.
